Note: It is required that a GRC member has signed up and performed volunteer service in
some aspect of race support of an official GRC race, e.g., water stop volunteer, coning,
finish-line timer, results recorder, etc., in order to qualify for the GRC Runner of the Year
award. Service must be performed in the same calendar year for which the award is being
        considered.

A runner who changes divisions during the year will be credited with points from both divisions.

Runners who choose to run both events when two events are offered in one race, e.g. Northern Lights 5K & 10K, will only be credited for one event toward points for the Runner of the Year Award.

These standards were established to recognize year long achievement. To be recognized as runner of the year, one must do well in many of the 18 races to earn enough points to be considered for the award.

Only official GRC races count toward the points system for the Runner of the Year award. The exceptions to this follow: Mudders Day 5K
